Field hockey jumps six spots to 18th in Division III coaches poll

Continentals knocked off two previously undefeated opponents last week

The Hamilton College Continentals moved up six spots to 18th in the Penn Monto/National Field Hockey Coaches Association Division III Top 25 poll on Tuesday, Sept. 16.

Hamilton (3-1 overall) edged then-No. 21 University of Rochester 1-0 in a shootout on Sept. 10 and cruised to a 4-1 win at then-No. 10 Wesleyan University on Sept. 13. The Continentals handed both teams their first losses this season.

Hamilton hosts St. Lawrence University for a non-conference game at Goodfriend Field on Wednesday, Sept. 17 at 5 p.m. and travels to No. 7 Tufts University for a New England Small College Athletic Conference contest on Saturday, Sept. 20 at 11 a.m.

Brighton McMahon '29 leads the offense with five points on two goals and an assist. Sammy Higgins '26 has four of the team's six assists this fall. Abby Griffin '26 hasn't allowed a goal and has eight saves in the cage in 120 minutes, while Kelly Janssen '28 (1.13 goals against average, .786 save pct.) has stopped 11 shots in 160 minutes.
