Former Hamilton College Director of Athletics
Jon Hind '80 received the 2025 Frenchy Julien Service Award from the U.S. Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) at the Intercollegiate Men's Lacrosse Coaches Association Coaches Summit in mid-December.
Â
The award is presented in honor of former Chief Referee, Joseph R. "Frenchy" Julien for outstanding and continuous service to men's lacrosse. The individual should have rendered a lifetime of service, accomplishments and contributions to men's lacrosse over and above the normal efforts for the game.
Â
Hind was hired by Hamilton in the summer of 2007 and retired from his position as director of athletics on April 30. He served as the chairperson and was a member of the NCAA men's lacrosse championship and rules committees. He was the head men's lacrosse coach at The College of Wooster for five seasons and at Butler University for another seven.
Â
Hind was selected as one of the members of the Butler Athletics Hall of Fame Class of 2025 under the special service award category. The class will be celebrated on Feb. 15, 2026.
Â
Hind arrived on the Butler campus in 1991 and built the men's lacrosse program from scratch. He was the coach for the team's inaugural season in 1993 and owned a 59-42 record in seven seasons. Hind was named the USILA Division I Coach of the Year in 1998 after guiding the Bulldogs to the NCAA tournament. The three-time Great Western Lacrosse League Coach of the Year handed off leadership of the program in 1999 and began a career in athletics administration at Butler before he returned to his alma mater.
