Badami '26 races in his first NCAA cross country championship

Junior made the all-NESCAC and all-region teams this fall for the Continentals

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- Hamilton College's Alexander Badami '26 competed in the men's race at the 2024 NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships, which were held at the LaVern Gibson Championship Cross Country Course on Saturday afternoon, Nov. 23.

Badami, who was racing in the national championships for the first time, finished in 257th place out of 294 runners with an 8-kilometer time of 26:19. He ran the first 1,000 meters in 2:48.6 and was in 214th place (5:54.3) after two kilometers. Badami was still 215th (12:39.2) at the halfway point and finished five kilometers in 16:09.5. His time was 21:14.9 at 6.5 kilometers, and he completed the last 1,500 meters in 5:04.1.

Badami qualified for the championship by placing 13th out of 167 finishers in the NCAA Niagara Regional with an 8-kilometer time of 25:29.4 at the Fredonia State University Cross Country Course on Nov. 16. Badami's fastest 8-kilometer time of 25:04.1 was recorded in the 2024 NESCAC championships where he finished 13th and earned a spot on the all-conference team. He finished in the top 15 in six of eight meets this fall.
