Six Hamilton College runners earned 2024 NCAA Division III Men's Cross Country All-Academic Athlete honors on Thursday, Jan. 30 when the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced their list.
In order to qualify for all-academic distinction, student-athletes must have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.30 on a 4.0 scale and finish in the top 25 percent of their respective regional championship meet.
Alexander Badami '26 (Blue Bell, Pa./Germantown Academy) and
Jack Quinn '27 (Reading, Mass./Reading Memorial HS) made the list for the second straight year.
Brady Armstrong '28 (Walpole, Mass./Xaverian Brothers HS), Liam Card '27 (Damariscotta, Maine/Lincoln Academy), Benjamin Habler '28 (Glen Rock, N.J./Glen Rock HS) and
Edward Trenk '25 (Wellesley, Mass./Wellesley HS) were all-academic athletes for the first time.Â
Badami led the way in the NCAA Niagara Regional Championships at the Fredonia State University Cross Country Course by placing 13th out of 167 finishers with an 8-kilometer time of 25:29.4. Quinn was next in 32nd place (26:28.9) and Trenk was right behind in 33rd place (26:29.4). Habler (26:42.7), Armstrong (26:42.8) and Card (26:46.1) took 40th through 42nd place.
The Continentals were also one of the USTFCCCA's 2024 NCAA Division III Men's Cross Country All-Academic Teams. In order to qualify for all-academic distinction, teams must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.1 on a 4.0 scale through the most recent grading period, among other qualifiers.
Hamilton has a team GPA of 3.58. The Continentals have collected this award under Head Coach
Brett Hull in each of the last 17 years.
