Hamilton College left wing
Luke Tchor '27 (Toronto, Ontario/St. Martin Secondary School) was selected by the American Hockey Coaches Association (AHCA) as a finalist for the 2025 Sid Watson Award, which is given to the best NCAA Division II-III men's ice hockey player, on Tuesday, March 18.
Tchor is one of 13 finalists for the award, which honors the memory of former Bowdoin College head coach and athletic director Sid Watson. A three-time AHCA Coach of the Year, Watson served Bowdoin for more than 30 years and won 326 games in 24 seasons as head coach. The recipient of this year's award will be announced during the NCAA Division III Men's Ice Hockey Frozen Four later this month.
Tchor was voted the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) Player of the Year earlier this month. He is tied for 27th in Division III in goals per game and is 32nd in points per game. Tchor has played in all 28 games and racked up 16 goals and 17 assists for 33 points. He has five power-play goals and two game-winners.
Tchor is attempting to follow in the footsteps of Hamilton's two-time all-American goaltender Evan Buitenhuis '18, who was the 2017 Sid Watson Award recipient.
Tchor has helped lead the Continentals (21-6-1 overall) to a team-record 21 wins this season and its first NESCAC title. Hamilton is playing in its second NCAA Division III championship and advanced to the quarterfinals for the second time after a 4-2 win at University of New England on March 15. The Continentals, who are ninth in the NCAA Power Index rankings, play at Curry College on Saturday, March 22 at 3 p.m.
