Walpole '26, Challapalli '27 lead women's tennis at Skidmore

Continentals also played against Union and Skidmore on Sept. 16 and 17.

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – The Hamilton College women's tennis team competed in the 2023 Skidmore College Thoroughbred Invitational on Sept. 16 and 17.
 
The Continentals played singles and doubles matches against the hosts, Union College and Middlebury College. Hamilton won four of six singles matches and both doubles matches against Union.
 
Hannah Walpole '26 and Priyanka Challapalli '27 won two singles matches apiece for the Continentals. Walpole, who was playing first flight singles, recorded Hamilton's lone win against Skidmore. Challapalli cruised to an 8-2 victory at fourth flight against a Union opponent and edged a Middlebury opponent 8-7 (4) at sixth flight. Walpole and Challapalli also teamed up for a first flight doubles triumph against Union.
 
Grace Qian '27 and Kate Solowey '25 were winners in singles and doubles action against Union. Qian was playing second flight singles and Solowey was victorious at sixth flight.
 
Some of the Continentals will compete in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Division III Northeast Regional Championships at William Smith College in Geneva, N.Y., starting on Saturday, Sept. 23.
