ROME, Ga. – Hamilton College's
Mona Farah '29 and
Grace Qian '27 dropped their quarterfinal match in the NCAA Division III women's doubles back draw at the 2026 Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Cup at the Rome Tennis Center at Berry College on Friday, Oct. 16.
Farah and Qian lost in straight sets (6-2, 7-6) against Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges' Bell Zhou and Rebecca Kong, but took them to a tiebreaker in the second before falling 7-4. Zhou and Kong were seeded second out of 16 doubles teams at the start of the tournament. Farah and Qian started the event with a loss against a Whitman College pairing in the doubles main draw's round of 16 on Thursday.
The Continentals' duo qualified for the ITA Cup by winning three matches and advancing to the semifinals in the ITA Division III Women's Northeast Regional Championship at Skidmore College in early October. Farah and Qian replaced the draw's runners-up from Saint Francis University (Pa.), which was not allowed send anyone to the ITA Cup because its athletic program is transitioning from Division I to Division III. Farah and Qian were the highest seeded doubles team out of the two semifinalists that didn't play in the final.
Hamilton women's tennis starts their spring dual match schedule in early March 2027.
