CLINTON, N.Y. – Hamilton College won two out of three doubles matches and the Continentals edged the Bates College Bobcats 5-4 in NESCAC action inside Hamilton's Margaret Bundy Scott Field House on Saturday.
The Continentals (6-4, 4-2 NESCAC) are 21
st in the Division III Women's Collegiate Tennis Rankings. Hamilton's win is its first against Bates in at least 20 years. The 38
th-ranked Bobcats dropped to 4-6 overall and 0-4 in the conference.
Stephanie Pratt '25 and
Samantha Rainero '26 won their singles and doubles matches for the Continentals. Pratt and Rainero posted their eighth victories this season in singles play as Pratt was a winner in straight sets at third flight and Rainero did the same at sixth flight. They were playing for just the third time as a doubles pairing and improved to 2-1 with a triumph at third flight.
Hannah Apsey '25 and
Lauren Holtzman '23, who are ranked 11
th in the Northeast Region as a doubles team, defeated the eighth-ranked pairing. They are 6-2 this season and 17-4 as a pairing in their Hamilton career.
Hannah Walpole '26 recorded another team point for the Continentals with her team-high ninth singles win this season. Walpole bested Bates' Drew Williams 6-4, 6-3 at fifth flight singles.
