NESCAC men's soccer championship quarterfinal preview

No. 5 seed Continentals travel to Middlebury to play the fourth-seeded Panthers on Oct. 29

The Hamilton College Continentals will travel to Middlebury, Vt., to play the Middlebury College Panthers in a 2022 New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) Men's Soccer Championship quarterfinal at Middlebury's South Street Field on Saturday, Oct. 29 at 12:30 p.m.

Hamilton's overall record is 8-3-4, and the Continentals are ranked 23rd in the D3soccer.com Top 25 poll and are receiving votes in the United Soccer Coaches Division III top 25 poll. Hamilton finished in fifth place in the conference standings with 16 points and a 4-2-4 record and is the fifth seed for the championship. The Continentals are one of two teams that won at Middlebury this year -- a 2-1 victory back on Sept. 17. Hamilton started the season 8-0-1 but is winless in its last six matches (0-3-3). The Continentals advanced to the NESCAC final in 2016.

The Panthers are ranked 15th by D3soccer.com and 20th by the coaches with an overall record of 9-3-3. Middlebury ended up in a tie for second place in the conference standings with 17 points and a 5-3-2 record, but the Panthers are the fourth seed for the championship. Middlebury has been shut out in each of its last three matches.
