Hamilton College's
Mia Schiel '22 helped account for two event victories and
Andrea Shipton '22 broke her own team record in the women's pole vault in the 2022 Utica College Blue and Orange Invitational at Hutton Sports & Recreation Center on Saturday.
The Continentals finished in third place out of 14 teams that scored a point with 53. Division I University of Massachusetts-Amherst captured the team title with 167 team points and SUNY Brockport was runner-up with 112.
Schiel took first place in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:26.88 and was part of the winning distance medley relay that posted a time of 13:30.10.
Liza Greene '22, Michelle Wu '25 and
Maddie Foss '25 joined Schiel on that relay.
Shipton cleared 3.45 meters and grabbed first place in the pole vault. She had set the team record at 3.41 meters just two weeks ago at Utica.
Leah Basel '24 placed in the top nine in three events. Basel was sixth in the 800 meters (2:36.47), seventh in the long jump with a leap of 4.98 meters, and ninth in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 10.18 seconds.
Greene was runner-up in the mile run (5:26.48) and
Betsy Overstrum '23 landed in second place in the 3,000-meter run (11:08.45).
Christina Bagin '24 ended up in ninth place in the 800 meters (2:39.36), and
Hope Obolanle '25 finished ninth in the preliminary heats of the 60-meter dash with a time of 8.45 seconds.
Hamilton competes in the Ithaca College Bomber Invitational on Saturday, Feb. 5 starting at 10 a.m.
