Hamilton College's
Andrea Shipton '22 finished first and set a team record in the women's pole vault at the 2022 Utica College Track & Field Winter Opener on Saturday.

The Continentals, with 53 points, finished in seventh place out of 14 teams that scored at the Hutton Sports & Recreation Center. St. John Fisher College captured the team title with 111.5 points.

Shipton cleared 3.41 meters and qualified for the All-Atlantic Region Track & Field Conference (AARTFC) Championships. Hannah Jaiven '14 held the previous team record of 3.40 meters since 2014.

Kylie Oblak '24 also qualified for the AARTFC championships by finishing second in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 18:34.85.
Betsy Overstrum '24 landed in fifth place in the 3,000-meter run (11:02.16).
Hamilton finished third in the 4x200-meter relay with a time of 1:56.31.
Michelle Wu '25, Leah Basel '24, Vicky Dunn '22 and
Sabrina Turner '24 were the members of that relay.
Basel was third in the long jump with a leap of 4.89 meters and fourth in the triple jump with a mark of 10.09 meters.
Sofia Riker '24 ended up sixth in the triple jump with a distance of 9.84 meters.
Meliya Soller '25 finished fifth in the 500-meter dash (1:30.35),
Mia Schiel '22 was sixth in the 800-meter run (2:31.90) and
Liza Greene '22 took eighth place in the mile run (5:35.22).
The Continentals are scheduled to host their own Hamilton Invitational at Margaret Bundy Scott Field House on Friday, Jan. 21 at 4 p.m.
