The Hamilton College Continentals finished in eighth place out of 12 teams at the 2021 Williams College Purple Valley Classic at Mount Greylock High School on Saturday afternoon.
Liza Greene '22 paced Hamilton in 20th place out of 157 finishers with a time of 24:44.9 on the 6-kilometer course.
Mia Schiel '22 was next for the Continentals in 46th place and a time of 25:44.
Margaret Phipps '23 was close behind Schiel in 48th place with a time of 25:47.8, and
Kristen Bitsberger '22 ended up in 69th place in 26:30.9.
Maddie Foss '25 rounded out Hamilton's top five in 71st place and a time of 26:33.2.
The Continentals finished with 208 team points in a field that included five teams ranked in this week's Division III Top 35 coaches poll. Nationally ranked No. 8 Williams captured the team title with 52 points and No. 6 Massachusetts Institute of Technology was runner-up with 64. No. 11 Tufts University landed in third place with 79 points, No. 13 Middlebury College ended up fourth with 105 points and No. 25 Worcester Polytechnic Institute was fifth with 123 points.
Hamilton competes in SUNY Geneseo's Mike Woods Invitational at the National Warplane Museum on Saturday, Oct. 2 at noon.
