Hamilton College's
Sophia Aulicino '21 and
Claire Cutler '24 won their singles matches against Middlebury College on Saturday but the Continentals dropped a 7-2 decision in NESCAC play at Hamilton's Tietje Family Tennis Center.
Hamilton is now 0-2 while Middlebury starts its season 1-0. The Panthers were fourth in the most recent Intercollegiate Tennis Association NCAA Division III team rankings posted last March.
Aulicino won in three sets in first flight action (7-6, 1-6, 11-9) as she recovered from a 6-9 deficit in the super-tiebreaker. Cutler won in the same fashion, forcing a third set at fourth flight (0-6, 7-5, 10-8).
The Continentals return to action Sunday, April 18 when they head to Middletown, Conn., to play Wesleyan University.
