Men's rowing places eighth in Collegiate 8 at Head of the Fish

Continentals competed in several races at fall season finale in Saratoga Springs

The Hamilton College Continentals' varsity eight entry finished in eighth place out of 17 boats in the Collegiate Eights race at the 2021 Head of the Fish Regatta on Fish Creek in Saratoga Springs, N.Y., on Oct. 30.

Racing conditions were drizzle with a light tailwind, but overall pretty decent for late October. The Head of the Fish is Hamilton's fall season finale.

The Continentals posted a time of 10:17.41 in the Collegiate Eights and finished fourth out of five NESCAC entries. A Dartmouth College boat won the race with a time of 9:43.02.

Hamilton had two entries in the Collegiate 2V Eights race. The second varsity eight took sixth place out of 19 entries with a time of 10:39.90 and the third varsity eight was 18th in 11:32.86. The Continentals' 2V8 was third out of 10 NESCAC entries. Massachusetts Institute of Technology was the winner in 10:17.66.

Hamilton was runner-up out of 13 boats in the Collegiate Freshman/Novice Eights race with a time of 10:26.52. Tufts University was the winner in 10:23.80.

The Continentals also had two entries in the Collegiate Fours race. Hamilton finished 10th out of 30 entries with a time of 11:49.16 as well as 18th in 12:21.21. Nine boats from NESCAC schools were entered in the race. A Williams College entry was the winner in 10:55. The Continentals landed in fifth place out of 14 boats in the Collegiate Freshman/Novice Fours race with a time of 13:02. A University of Connecticut entry took the top spot in 12:12.50.

Hamilton will be back in the water in March 2022.
