SCOTIA, N.Y. – The Hamilton College Continentals captured the gold medal in the collegiate eights at the Mohawk Fall Classic Regatta on the Mohawk River on a beautiful Sunday afternoon, Sept. 28.
Hamilton had two entries in the eights and two more in the collegiate fours. The regatta is a 3,700-meter head race.
The Continentals' 'A' entry finished first out of eight boats in the collegiate eights with a time of 12:31.70. Hamilton's 'B' entry finished fourth (13:25.91). Iona University was the runner-up (12:45.78) and Union College landed in third place (12:58.64).
The Continentals' 'A' entry led the way in the collegiate fours in second place out of five boats with a time of 15:04.66. Hamilton's 'B' entry finished fifth (16:54.28). Iona posted the fastest time of 14:26.63 and another Iona entry was third (15:29.33).
The Continentals' next varsity competition is the Head of the Charles Regatta on Sunday, Oct. 19.
