Liza Greene '22 competed in the 2021 NCAA Division III Women's Cross Country Championship at E.P. Tom Sawyer State Park in Louisville, Ky., on Saturday afternoon.
Greene ended up in 218th place out of 292 finishers with a time of 23:17.8 on the 6-kilometer course for one of her best collegiate performances and a mile pace of 6 minutes, 15 seconds. She recorded a time of 3:50.3 over the opening 1,000 meters and reached the halfway point at 11:22.3.
Greene ran the fourth 1,000 meters in 4:02.2 and the fifth 1,000 in 4:08. Her finishing kick led to a time of 3:45.3 in the final 1,000 meters.
The NCAA championship wrapped up a memorable season for Greene, who earned all-NESCAC team and all-region honors for the first time. She had finished in the top 20 in all seven races this fall leading up to the national meet. The Continentals also had at least one woman compete at the national meet in 2017, 2018 and 2019.
