Hamilton College's
Liza Greene '22 led the Continentals to fourth place out of 20 teams in the 2021 NCAA Division III Niagara Region Women's Cross Country Championship at the National Warplane Museum in Geneseo, N.Y., on Saturday afternoon.
Hamilton finished with 166 points while the hosts from SUNY Geneseo captured the team title and an automatic bid to the 2021 NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships with just 19 points. Geneseo is ranked ninth in the most recent Division III coaches poll. University of Rochester was runner-up with 70 points and Ithaca College ended up in third place with 120. St. John Fisher College rounded out the top five with 177 points.
Greene finished 12th out of 141 runners with a time of 23:38.4 on the 6-kilometer course. She passed four athletes in the final 1,000 meters.
Mia Schiel '22 landed in 31st place with a time of 24:28.3.
Kylie Oblak '24 was close behind Schiel in 36th place with a time of 24:36.7.
Betsy Overstrum '24 finished 42nd in 24:49.5, which was only about two seconds off her personal record.
Margaret Phipps '23 rounded out the Continentals' top five in 45th place with a time of 24:53.8.
The NCAA will announce the team and individual qualifiers for the Division III championship on Sunday afternoon.
