Men's cross country takes 3rd place at NCAA regional championships

Continentals put four runners in the top 35

The Hamilton College Continentals finished in third place out of 22 teams in the 2021 NCAA Division III Niagara Region Men's Cross Country Championship at the National Warplane Museum in Geneseo, N.Y., on Saturday morning.

Hamilton finished with 127 points while the hosts from SUNY Geneseo captured the team title and an automatic bid to the 2021 NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships with just 28 points. Geneseo is ranked sixth in the most recent Division III coaches poll. University of Rochester was runner-up with 122 points and Ithaca College ended up in fourth place with 132. SUNY Cortland rounded out the top five with 167 points.

Andrew Harrell '23 paced the Continentals in 15th place out of 158 runners with a personal-record time of 25:50.2 on the 8-kilometer course. Bram Mansbach '24 was close behind Harrell in 17th place with a season-best time of 25:54.6.

Nick Lyon '22 landed in 27th place with a career-best time of 26:07.4, and AJ Zuckerman '23 was 31st in a personal-best 26:19.9. George Brady '23 rounded out Hamilton's top five in 37th place and a time of 26:27.4. 

The NCAA will announce the team and individual qualifiers for the Division III championship on Sunday afternoon.
