Box Score Nick Ursitti '20 and Jon Beniers '21 scored the two goals for Hamilton College in the Continentals' 3-2 overtime NESCAC setback to the Connecticut College Camels on Saturday inside Hamilton's Russell Sage Rink.
The Continentals (10-8-4, 9-5-2 NESCAC) remain in the third position in the conference standings heading into the final weekend of regular season play. The Camels (10-10-2, 6-8-2 NESCAC) are sitting in seventh place. The last time the teams met they tied 2-2 on Jan. 18 in New London, Conn.
Hamilton outshot Connecticut College 43-20 as Anthony Tirabassi '20 recorded 17 saves for the Continentals. Camels netminder Connor Rodericks made 33 saves during the first two periods before he left the game with an apparent injury. Avery Gobbo relieved Rodericks and made eight stops in 21:43.
Connecticut College found the back of the net 1:18 into the extra period. Steven Senese picked up a loose puck off the boards and found Matt Creamer at the point and he put it in for the game winner.
The Continentals' first goal came six minutes into the first period. Jordi Jefferson '22 swiped the puck near the left-center area of the ice and passed it diagonally to Ursitti who put it in with a wrist shot from the right side for his eighth goal. Jefferson leads the team with 16 points.
Hamilton made it a two-goal cushion 4:16 later as Teddy Simson '21 passed the puck from center ice to Beniers and he passed it to Justin Felhaber '21 behind the net. Felhaber found Beniers out in front for his seventh goal.
Connecticut College cut the Continentals' lead in half with 3:46 left in the first. Ryan Petti picked up a loose puck off a giveaway and fed it to Paul Capozzi.
The Camels tied the score with 31 seconds remaining in the period on a power-play goal. Colin Stevens passed the puck to Capozzi who took a slap shot from the point and Petti put it in off the rebound.
Hamilton College is on the road Friday. Feb. 21 for a NESCAC matchup against Williams College (15-6-1, 12-4-0) in Williamstown, Mass., at 7 p.m.
