Head coach of the NCAA Division III champion Continentals honored by two college hockey news websites

Hamilton College's Rob Haberbusch was recently selected the 2026 U.S. College Hockey Online (USCHO) Division II-III Men's Ice Hockey Coach of the Year and the 2026 DIIIHockeyNews.com Men's Coach of the Year.

Haberbusch guided the Continentals to their first NCAA title and an overall record of 23-5-2. The 23 wins are the most in a season by a Hamilton men's hockey team. He has a career record of 186-135-40 in 14 seasons at Hamilton.

The Continentals finished the 2025-26 season at No. 1 in the final USCHO.com Men's Hockey Top 15 poll that was released on Monday, March 30. Hamilton won four games in the NCAA championship and defeated three teams that ended up in the top 10 of the final rankings, including a 2-1 overtime victory in the final against Hobart College, which had been previously unbeaten and untied.

Haberbusch was also voted the New England Small College Athletic Conference Coach of the Year after the Continentals finished atop the team standings with a 14-3-1 conference record.

Hamilton started the season with seven straight wins, didn't lose until Jan. 3 and was 15-1-2 at the start of February. The Continentals had a 6-2-2 record in overtime and went 5-2 against nationally ranked opponents.
