The Hamilton College Continentals opened a three-game NESCAC West Division series with a doubleheader split against the Wesleyan University Cardinals at Hamilton's Loop Road Softball/Baseball Complex on Saturday afternoon.

Hamilton (17-6, 1-4 NESCAC West) won the first game 7-6 as Emily Fraser '20 drove in the game-winning run with her 100th career hit in the bottom of the seventh inning. Fraser is the second Continental to surpass 100 career hits this season. Ashleah Yzaguirre '19 accomplished the milestone against Kalamazoo College on March 25 in Clermont, Florida.

Wesleyan (9-13, 1-4) scored five insurance runs in the top of the seventh inning and posted a 9-3 victory in the nightcap. The Continentals and Cardinals wrap up the series with an 11 a.m. game on Sunday, April 7 at Loop Road Complex.

Game One: Hamilton 7, Wesleyan 6

The game was tied 5-5 heading into the seventh inning. Wesleyan took a one-run lead in the top half with a walk and a hit. Olivia Gorman hit a one-out single, moved to second on a walk, stole third base and scored on Lauren Gaffney-Gomez's fielder's choice.

Hamilton's Vicky Dunn '22 kicked off the bottom of the seventh with a single through the left side of the infield and immediately scored on Yzaguirre's triple down the right-field line. Fraser then ripped a walk-off single right back up the middle to win the game.

Morgan Hartranft '22 (8-3) tallied four strikeouts in her eighth win of the season and allowed three earned runs on six hits and three walks.

The Continentals scored twice in the home half of the first inning and took a 2-1 lead. Caitlin Berreitter '20 battled back from an 0-2 count to earn a leadoff walk, stole second base, moved to third on Yzaguirre's single to left field and scored on a failed pickoff attempt. Yzaguirre moved all the way to third on the failed pickoff and scored on Fraser's single up the middle.

Wesleyan built a 5-2 lead with two runs in the second inning and two more in the fifth before Hamilton began its comeback with three runs in the bottom of the inning. With two outs, Yzaguirre hit her first triple of the contest and scored on Fraser's single back to the pitcher. Fraser used her wheels to score from first base on a double to right-center field by Kendall Searcy '20, and Searcy tied the score at 5-5 on a triple to center field by Helen Lin '19.

Yzaguirre was perfect at the plate with three hits including two triples, one walk and three runs scored. Fraser finished 3-for-4 with three RBIs, Lin went 2-for-3 with a double, and Caroline Chivily '19 and Searcy hit doubles.

Game Two: Wesleyan 9, Hamilton 3

Berreitter gave Hamilton an early 1-0 edge in game two with a leadoff double in the bottom of the first inning, advanced to third on a passed ball and scored on Yzaguirre's squeeze bunt.

After two scoreless innings, Wesleyan tied the score with one run in the fourth and took the lead with a three-run fifth inning.

Hamilton cut its deficit to one run at 4-3 with two runs in the bottom of the fifth. Dunn knocked a one-out single to left center, swiped second base, moved to third on Yzaguirre's double down the left-field line, and scored on Fraser's single to center field. Searcy then lofted a deep sacrifice fly to center field, allowing Yzaguirre to score from third base.
