Box Score 2 The Hamilton College Continentals split a pair of one-run non-conference games in Clermont, Fla., on Saturday.
Hamilton (3-5 overall) was edged 6-5 by Anderson (Ind.) University at Hancock Park Field in the morning before the Continentals came back in the afternoon and defeated Oberlin College 2-1 at Legends Way Field. Hamilton is right back at it again on Sunday, March 18 against Sewanee at 2 p.m. and SUNY New Paltz at 4:30. The games will be played at Legends Way Field #1 and #4.

Dez DePaulis '19 collected her second win this season and the seventh of her collegiate career as she allowed one run on six hits and struck out three in 5.1 innings. Zoe Singer '18 earned her third career save by pitching 1.2 hitless innings. Caroline Chivily '19 recorded her second two-hit game of the day.
The Continentals jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning. Caitlin Berreitter '20 reached base on an infield error and advanced to second on a wild pitch. Berreitter then came around to score on a bunt single by Chivily.
In the third inning Chivily and Kendall Searcy '20 hit back-to-back singles with one out but they were left stranded at first and second. Hamilton put two runners on with one out again in the fourth but didn't add the insurance run.
Oberlin (2-2) put a runner on third base with two outs in the bottom of the fourth but DePaulis struck out the next batter to end the inning. The Yeowomen threatened again in the fifth as they had runners on second and third with one out after a single and an infield error. DePaulis once again came through in the clutch with a strikeout and a fly out to end the inning.
The Continentals finally pushed that important second run across in the sixth. Emily Fraser '20 led off with a double and went to third on a single up the middle by Helen Lin '19. Lin went to second on a wild pitch and Ashleah Yzaguirre '19 loaded the bases on a bunt single. After the next hitter popped out, pinch-hitter Sophia Cerreta '20 plated Fraser with an infield base hit.
Emily Tucci finally put Oberlin on the scoreboard with a home run in the bottom of the sixth. Tucci also pitched a complete game, allowing one earned run on eight hits and fanning two.
Singer clinched the victory by working around an error with three ground ball outs in the bottom of the seventh inning. Jazz Mitchell finished with two singles for the Yeowomen.
Anderson 6, Hamilton 5
Berreitter nearly led Hamilton to victory in the Continentals' first game of the day as she went 4-for-4 with three runs scored and two more batted in. She leads the team with a .536 batting average (15-for-28) and 10 runs. Claire O'Brien '21 pitched 6.1 innings and took the loss.
Anderson (4-5) broke a 3-3 tie by scoring three runs with two outs in the top of the sixth inning. Annilou Belvo cracked a two-run double to center field and scored on a single to center by DJ Martz.
Hamilton rallied in the bottom of the seventh as Berreitter's two-run homer with one out pulled the Continentals within 6-5. Chivily followed with an infield single but the next two batters were retired on fly outs.
A two-run shot by Martz gave the Ravens a 2-0 lead in the top of the first. Hamilton cut its deficit in half in the bottom of the inning when Searcy drove in Berreitter with a single to right field after Berreitter led off with a double to center.
Lin tied the score in the second when she led off with a double to center and scored on a wild pitch. After Anderson regained the lead with a run in the third, the Continentals came back to tie it again in the fifth. Berreitter hit a one-out single to center and came all the way around on Chivily's bloop base hit to right.
Hadley Decker registered the complete-game win for the Ravens as she allowed four earned runs on nine hits in seven innings.
