Box Score The nationally ranked No. 9 Hamilton College field hockey team blanked the Wesleyan Cardinals 4-0 in a NESCAC game on Saturday at Goodfriend Field. Wesleyan falls to 2-6 overall and 0-4 in the NESCAC. Hamilton improves to 6-2 overall and 4-1 in the NESCAC.
One goal each came from Lizzie Clarke '20, Michaela Giuttari '20, Eleni Neyland '18 and Maddie Beitler '21 while Tatiana Bradley '20, Liz Wagenbach '18, Aly Skelly '18 and Margaret Revera '18 each added an assist.
Julia Booth '19 made six saves in net to earn her first shutout of the season.
Clarke scored the eventual game-winner just 2:20 into the game off a penalty corner. Bradley pushed the ball in from the left side and Wagenbach set it up for Clarke to slap past Wesleyan goalkeeper Delaney Wood (10 saves).
Giuttari scored her 11th goal of the season eight minutes later. Giuttari picked off a clear attempt by the Cardinals' Rachel Pomerantz, taking the defender one-on-one and slipping the ball through the legs of Wood to give Hamilton a 2-0 lead at the half.
The Continentals capitalized on a second penalty corner with 15:40 left in the second half when Bradley pushed the ball to Cat Donahue '21 at the top of the shooting circle. Donahue passed to Skelly and her shot deflected off Neyland's stick and into the upper corner of the cage.
Hamilton was awarded a penalty corner with time expired. Eleni Neyland '18 pushed the ball into play from the left side to Clarke at the top of the shooting circle. Clarke passed to Revera on the right side of the arc, and Beitler tipped in Revera's shot for the final goal of the game.
The Continentals are back in NESCAC action Sunday, Oct. 1 at noon when Hamilton hosts nationally ranked No. 6 Tufts on Goodfriend Field.
