Box Score The nationally ranked No. 15 Hamilton College field hockey team posted a 3-2 NESCAC victory over No. 5 Middlebury on Sunday afternoon at Middlebury's Kohn Field. The Panthers (3-1, 2-1 NESCAC) were previously unbeaten with wins over Castleton, Connecticut College and Amherst. Hamilton improves its overall record to 4-1 and 3-0 in the conference.
There was no score until the 12th minute when Margaret Revera '18 was awarded a penalty stroke after a Hamilton corner. Revera placed the ball past the reach of Panthers' goalie Megan Collins (eight saves) to give Hamilton the 1-0 lead.
The Continentals were back on the attack just 90 seconds later. Defender Brooke Talsania '19 started the play with a 30-yard pass up the right sideline to Sarah Stinebaugh '19. Stinebaugh dribbled her way around two defenders and found Tatiana Bradley '19 at the top of the shooting circle. Bradley fired a shot to the left post for her first goal of the season.
Middlebury cut the lead in half with 11 minutes remaining in the first. Emma Jones was able to score off a rebound after a defensive save by Cat Donahue '21 and an initial stop by Julia Booth '19 (four saves).
Bradley netted the eventual game winner with 7:11 left in the second half. Lizzie Clarke '20 crossed to Bradley in the arc and she redirected the ball past Collins.
Audrey Quirk got the Panthers within one with just 1:16 remaining, but the Continentals controlled the play for the remaining seconds.
Hamilton concludes its NESCAC weekend 2-0 after taking down two nationally ranked opponents. Next up, the Continentals travel to New London, Conn., on Saturday, Sept. 23 for a NESCAC game against Connecticut College.
