Box Score The Hamilton College men's hockey team snapped their two-game losing streak with a 4-2 win over Franklin Pierce Saturday night. The non-league game was played at Jason Ritchie Ice Arena in Winchendon, Mass.
The Continentals (12-2-2 overall) had lost two in a row after opening the season 11-0-2. They're ranked seventh by D3hockey.com and eighth by USCHO.com.
Brandon Willett '18 tallied a goal and an assist and Neil Conway '18 assisted on a pair of goals to pace 10 Continentals in the scoring column.
Charlie Fennell '17 made 16 saves and earned his third win in as many appearances this winter.
Willett opened the scoring with his team-leading ninth goal of the season. Conway and Bennett Morrison '20 assisted on Willett's goal, 6:30 into the opening period.
Hamilton held its 1-0 lead for 39 minutes, outshooting the Ravens 23-11 over the first two periods.
Robbie Murden '17 started the five-goal third period by scoring his fourth goal of the season 5:29 in. The goal raised his career total to 99 points. Willett and Conway picked up assists; Conway now leads the team with 16 points.
The teams traded goals 27 seconds apart midway through the period. Jonathan Haun put Franklin Pierce on the board, scoring off an assist from Connor Mauro. The Continentals responded on their next shift; Tyler Bruneteau '18 scored his sixth goal of the season with Jason Brochu '19 and Conor Lamberti '17 assisting; the assists were the seventh for Brochu and the sixth for Lamberti.
After Alex Lester scored with 3:55 left to pull the Ravens to 3-2, Hamilton sealed the win with an empty-net goal in the final minute. T.J. Daigler '18 scored his first goal of the season and Xavier Morin '17 and Jon Carkeek '17 were credited with assists. Morin's assist was his first; Carkeek's was his team-leading 12th.
Tom McGuckin stopped 32 shots for the Ravens.
Hamilton returns to NESCAC action this weekend, hosting a pair of conference games at Russell Sage Rink. The Continentals face Trinity Friday at 7 p.m. and take on Wesleyan Saturday at 3 p.m.
