Box Score The Hamilton College softball team lost to visiting SUNY Oswego 11-7 Tuesday at Ferguson Field. The Continentals and Lakers had been scheduled to play a doubleheader but game two was called because of darkness with Hamilton leading 3-1 after four innings.
The Continentals took an early lead, scoring four second-inning runs on a two-run single by Liz Brautigam '19 and a two-run double by Ashleah Yzaguirre '19.
Hamilton answered the Lakers' two-run third by pushing its lead to 5-2 in the bottom of the frame. Consecutive outfield errors by Oswego allowed Delaney Nicol '19 to reach base, then to score.
The Lakers exploded for eight runs in the sixth, capitalizing on three Hamilton errors. A two-run single by Jacquie Porreca put the visitors ahead to stay and Ashley Lyman followed with a single that made it 7-5.
Porreca finished with three hits and three runs batted in. Erin Sweeney scored three runs and Alexis Nasca added two hits and drove in two runs.
Hamilton got two runs back in the sixth when Becca Butler '17 drove home Hannah Staab '17 and Daphne Assimakopoulos '17 with a two-out double.
Brautigam and Yzaguirre both had two hits to lead the Continentals at the plate.
The Continentals are back in action Wednesday with another non-league doubleheader when they host the Utica College Pioneers at Ferguson Field starting at 3:30 p.m.
