Box Score Hamilton College scored three times in the first half and the nationally ranked No. 18 Continentals went on to post a 4-1 NESCAC field hockey win against the Colby College Mules at Colby's Bill Alfond Field on Saturday afternoon.
Hamilton (10-4, 7-3 NESCAC) is in second place in the conference standings but may have to wait until as late as Wednesday, Oct. 26 to find out if it will be one of the top four seeds and host a NESCAC Championship quarterfinal on Oct. 29.
The Continentals have outscored their opponents 16-5 during their current five-game win streak. Hamilton has won nine of its last 10 contests and has reached double digits in wins for the first time since 2010 when the Continentals went 13-3.
Michaela Giuttari '20 and Tatiana Bradley '19 led Hamilton with a goal and an assist apiece. Julia Booth '19 made five of her six saves in the second half.
Meredith Keenan scored for the Mules (6-8, 2-7) and Riley Whitmyer turned away 18 shots.
Giuttari scored her 10th goal 8:27 into the first half when she stuffed in her own rebound after Whitmyer had made a nice stop. Giuttari was credited with her team-best seventh assist on Bradley's sixth goal midway through the half. Giuttari pushed past a defender in the circle and found Bradley near the right post for a one-timer.
Emma Anderson '17 gave the Continentals a 3-0 advantage on her sixth career goal with 10:55 left in the half. Lizzie Clarke '20 picked up her second assist on the play. After inserting the ball on a penalty corner, Anderson stepped back on the field and tipped in a shot by Clarke.
Margaret Revera '18 made it a four-goal game on the seventh of her Hamilton career with 6:26 remaining. Bradley recorded her third assist on another penalty corner when she pushed a pass over to Revera on the near side and she hammered a shot from long range into the back of the cage.
Keenan finally put Colby on the scoreboard just 47 seconds after Revera's goal.
The Continentals enjoyed a 33-16 shot advantage and were awarded 13 penalty corners to just five for the Mules.
Hamilton is back in action at home on Goodfriend Field against Union College for a non-conference game on Tuesday, Oct. 25 at 6 p.m.
