Hamilton men edged in OT at Connecticut Coll.

Connecticut College's JC Cangelosi scored a power-play goal at 10:58 of the first sudden-victory overtime period and lifted the Camels to a 4-3 win against the Hamilton College Continentals in a 2015 NESCAC Championship quarterfinal at Conn. College's Dayton Arena on Saturday afternoon.

Hamilton (9-10-6 overall), which was the championship's No. 6 seed, held a 3-2 lead late in the third period. The Continentals had already defeated the Camels twice this year -- 4-2 at Dayton Arena on Feb. 14 and 3-1 at home back on Jan. 17.

Conn. College (14-9-2) will play Williams College in a NESCAC Championship semifinal at Amherst College on Saturday, March 7. The third-seeded Camels recorded their first win in five tries in the men's hockey championship. After a 1-5 start this season, Conn. College is 13-4-2 in its last 18 games.

Pat Curtis '15 scored two goals in his final game with Hamilton and finished his career with 73 points in 97 games.Brandon Willett '18 notched the other goal and Robbie Murden '17 and Neil Conway '18 were credited with two assists apiece. Murden led the team with 18 assists and 32 points. Conor Lamberti '17 and Marko Brelih '15picked up one assist apiece. Tim Nowacki '18 made 24 saves in 70-plus minutes in goal.

Tim DiPretoro '16 led the Camels' offense with two goals and Joe Birmingham '16 chipped in three assists. Brian Belisle tied the score at 3-3 with 48 seconds left in the third period when Conn. College had an extra skater on the ice. Tom Conlin '16 stopped 33 shots, including five in overtime.

In overtime, Will Leedy '15 helped protect Conlin with a critical blocked shot at the eight-minute mark. DiPretoro then drew a tripping penalty to set up a power play at 9:12. Birmingham made a spin move from below the right circle and left the puck for Cangelosi, who flicked in his 10th goal this season.

Conn. College used its timeout with 1:25 remaining in the third period to empty the net. Birmingham won a battle in the corner for a loose puck and cycled the puck out in front for Belisle, who buried the equalizer from the slot. Sebastian Meltzer '15 added the second assist.

Hamilton pulled ahead 3-2 with 6:39 remaining in the third. Murden won a battle near the back wall and made a nice feed to Curtis, who buried a low shot from the mid-slot area for his 10th goal.

Curtis scored the lone goal in the first period with 8:18 to go. DiPretoro tied the score with a power-play goal at 3:07 of the second period but Willett put the Continentals back in front at 2-1 with his fifth goal -- another power-play tally -- at 14:46 of the period. DiPretoro tied the score again just 42 seconds later with his 10th goal.

The Continentals held a 36-28 shot advantage and were 1-for-3 on the power play. The Camels were even better on the power play as they scored twice on three chances.
