Women's track and field places fifth at Utica Winter Opener

Murphy '27 set the facility record in the 5,000 meters for the Continentals

UTICA, N.Y. – Hamilton College's Lily Murphy '27 led the Continentals at Utica University's multi-divisional Winter Opener inside the Todd and Jen Hutton Sports and Recreation Center on Friday, Jan. 12.
 
Murphy captured first place in the women's 5,000-meter run with a time of 17:41.55. Her performance broke the facility record in the event, qualified for the All-Atlantic Region Track & Field Conference indoor championships, and is 19th on the NCAA championships indoor qualifying list.
 
The Continentals won the 4x400-meter relay in 4:11.67. The winning foursome included Hannah Turner '26, Renata Mendez-Alvarez '27, Claire Tratnyek '26 and Kate Scibelli '26.
 
Hamilton hosts its own invitational on Friday, Jan. 19 at 3 p.m.
