SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – All three Hamilton College doubles pairings advanced to the quarterfinals at the 2026 Intercollegiate Tennis Association Division III Men's Northeast Regional Championship hosted by Skidmore College on Friday, Sept. 25.
Charlie Sternberg '27 and
Martin Dimitrov '30 had the most unlikely path to the quarters as they edged the draw's top-seeded Rochester Institute of Technology team of Yu Tanimoto and Alexander Sinclair in the round of 16, 8-6. Sternberg and Dimitrov also triumphed by an 8-5 decision over SUNY Oneonta's Chris Chippari and Jaden Ritterman.
Fourth-seeded
Lleyton Mendieta '28 and
Mohammed Zahaan Siddiqui '30 cruised into the quarters with an 8-1 victory over Yeshiva University's Andrew Schiller and Jacob Feit, and an 8-2 win against Baruch College's Juan Mendoza and Sam Park. Mendieta reached the final of last year's championship with
Eerik Villem Aadamsoo '28.
Alexei Katelevsky '29 and
Filip Moller '29 are one of the fifth to eighth seeds in the doubles draw. They dispatched Pratt Institute's Peter Burnham and Calder Tillinghast 8-3 in the first round and eased past University of Rochester's Ziwen Ju and Ethan Samora in the second, 8-2.
Two Continentals made it through to the round of 16 in the singles draw on Friday. Mendieta, who is one of the fifth to eighth seeds in the 64-person draw, dropped just one game in the first round against Yeshiva's Feit. Mendieta took out Ithaca College's Timur Gilmanov in the second round by scores of 6-3 and 7-5.
Stuart Konezny '30 also reached the third round as one of the players seeded ninth to 16
th. Konezny lost one game in the first round against Pratt's Tillinghast and outlasted The College of New Jersey's Felipe Postolov in a third set super-tiebreaker in the second (6-3, 5-7, 10-5).
Siddiqui was also one of the ninth to 16
th seeds, but fell to Hobart College's Michael Georgelis by scores of 6-2 and 6-3 in the second round. Siddiqui prevailed in the first round after a third set super-tiebreaker against Union College's Arhan Gupta, 7-5, 4-6, 10-7.
Dimitrov posted a convincing 6-1, 6-1 win in the first round against The College of New Jersey's Faris Shehata. His singles tournament ended in the round of 32 against third-seeded Tanimoto from RIT, 6-3 and 6-1.
The schedule for Saturday, Sept. 26 includes the quarterfinals and semifinals of the doubles draw as well as the round of 16 in the singles draw.
