SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – A Hamilton College doubles team lost in the finals of the main draw and two Continentals fell in the quarterfinals of the singles draw at the 2026 Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Division III Men's Northeast Regional Championship hosted by Skidmore College on Sunday, Sept. 27.
 
Alexei Katelevsky '29 and Filip Moller '29 won four matches during the tournament's first two days and reached the title match where they dropped a 7-5 and 6-3 decision against New York University's Boren Zheng and Bryan Hui. Katelevsky and Moller were one of the fifth through eighth seeds out of 32 doubles pairings.
 
By virtue of reaching the final match, Katelevsky and Moller qualified to compete in the ITA Cup at the Rome Tennis Center at Berry College in Rome, Ga., from Oct. 15 to Oct. 18.
 
Hamilton's dynamic duo were on-serve in the first set through 5-6, but Moller was broken on a deuce point and NYU took the first set. In the second set Katelevsky and Moller were up a break serving at 2-1, but Zheng and Hui made a push and broke right back. NYU had the momentum and held their serve, then broke Moller's serve and held again for a 5-2 lead. Katelevsky served a great game and forced them to serve it out at 5-3, but NYU was just too tough in the end.
 
"Filip and Alexei had a number of opportunities, especially in the first set, to break NYU's serve, but NYU played well in the big moments of the match," Head Coach Peter Arsenault said. "It was a great match overall and an excellent tournament for Alexei and Filip."
 
Lleyton Mendieta '28 started out strong in his singles quarterfinal with a 6-0 decision in the first set, but Vassar College's Eddie Zeng stormed back and defeated Mendieta by scores of 6-4 and 6-3 in the second and third sets. Mendieta was one of the players seeded fifth through eighth in the 64-person singles draw.
 
Stuart Konezny '30 was not intimidated by top-seeded Kevin Titus Suresh of Saint Francis University (Pa.) in their quarterfinal, but Suresh eventually advanced with a 7-5, 6-3 victory. Konezny was one of the players seeded ninth through 16^th for the tournament.
 
Mendieta and Konezny won three matches apiece to reach the quarterfinals of the main singles draw.
 
The Continentals compete in the Colgate University Invitational on Saturday, Oct. 3 and Sunday, Oct. 4.
