PITTSFIELD, Mass. – The Hamilton College Continentals rowed against the Williams College Ephs in four races on Onota Lake on Saturday morning, April 25.
Hamilton, which is ranked 10
th in the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association Division III Women's Top 15 poll, finished behind nationally ranked No. 1 Williams in all four races. There was a 6 mph cross-headwind, but overall the racing conditions were beautiful on the 2,000-meter course.
The Continentals' time of 7:24.0 in the varsity eight was 23 seconds behind the Ephs. The second varsity eight race was considerably closer, as Hamilton finished 9.7 seconds after Williams in 7:26.3. The Continentals ended up with a time of 8:01.0 in the third varsity eight and crossed the finish line in 8:37.0 in the varsity four. The Ephs finished at least 22 seconds ahead of Hamilton in both of those races.
The Continentals won't compete again until Sunday, May 10 when they race in the NESCAC Championships and National Invitational Rowing Championships on Lake Quinsigamond in Worcester, Mass.
