EAST HADDAM, Conn. – The Hamilton College Continentals were tied for third place out of 10 teams after the first round of the 2026 NESCAC Men's Golf Championship at Fox Hopyard Golf Club on Friday, April 24.
Hamilton posted a four-person team score of 308, which was matched by Trinity College. Tufts University is in the lead at 298 and Williams College is in second place just two shots back.
Tee times for the second round on Saturday, April 25 start at 10:10 a.m., but the Continentals' first player doesn't tee off until 11:50.
Ramon Aroca Gonzalez '26 was in fifth place out of 50 golfers after carding a 3-over-par 74. Aroca Gonzalez, who leads the team with a stroke average of 73.00 for 18 holes, broke 80 for the 17
th consecutive round. He recorded birdies on the second, fifth and 18
th holes, and went 2-under on the par fives.
Eric Soderberg '26 was tied for 10
th place with a 76. Soderberg has been under 80 for nine straight rounds. He made birdie on the fifth, sixth and eighth holes and was even par on the front nine. Soderberg added his fourth birdie of the round on the 18
th.
Thomas Beaudoin '27 was tied for 14
th place with a 77 in just his sixth competitive round this season. Beaudoin eagled the 506-yard, par-five fifth hole and added birdies on the sixth and 18
th holes. He boasted one of just four eagles registered by the entire field on Friday.
Four of five Hamilton players made birdie on 18, which statistically was the easiest hole in the first round.
