FARMINGDALE, N.Y. – The Hamilton College Continentals finished in third place out of seven teams in the Bethpage Black Invitational, which was hosted by Farmingdale State College at Bethpage State Park on Thursday, April 16.
The Bethpage Black Course hosted the 2025 Ryder Cup, the 2019 PGA Championship and the U.S. Open in 2002 and 2009. Out of the 40 golfers that played in Thursday's event, 18 of them did not break 80.
Ramon Aroca Gonzalez '26 and
Wyatt Lupo '29 led Hamilton as they tied for fifth place with a 5-over par 76. It was just the second time in 15 rounds this season that Aroca Gonzalez shot higher than 75 for 18 holes. Lupo has posted scores of 77 or better in each of his last eight rounds.
Eric Soderberg '26 carded a 79 and tied for 18
th place. Soderberg has recorded a score in the 70s in nine out of 10 rounds and has done no worse than 80 in 2025-26.
All six birdies registered by the Continentals came on the front nine, including four on the par-five seventh hole. Lupo led Hamilton with a 1-over 37 on the front side, while Aroca Gonzalez played the back nine in 2-over 37.
The Continentals compete in the Farmingdale State Spring Invitational at the Bethpage Red Course on Saturday, April 18 and Sunday, April 19.
