BALLSTON SPA, N.Y. – Hamilton College's
Ramon Aroca Gonzalez '26 and Jake Hendelman '28 finished in the top five as the Continentals placed sixth out of 17 teams in Skidmore College's Tim Brown Invitational, which was held at Ballston Spa Country Club on April 11 and 12.
Aroca Gonzalez tied for second place out of 96 golfers at 142. He recorded his second straight runner-up finish this spring and his third this season. Aroca Gonzalez fired a 2-under-par 69 in Sunday's final round, which was Hamilton's best of the tournament. He has shot 75 or better for the last 13 rounds and leads the Continentals with an 18-hole stroke average of 72.43.
Hendelman tied for fourth place with a collegiate-best 143 for 36 holes. His 1-under 70 led Hamilton in Saturday's first round. Hendelman, who owns a stroke average of 73.79 for 18 holes, has shot 76 or better in 12 out of 14 rounds.
Ferguson Breuer '28 contributed a 76 on Sunday and finished at 156.
Elliot Strickland '28 carded rounds of 79 and 78 for a season-best 157 for 36 holes.
Max Greenberg-Winnick '28 registered a pair of collegiate-best rounds of 79 and ended up at 158.
The Continentals were in sixth place after a four-person team score of 301 on Saturday and weren't able to move up despite a 296 on Sunday that gave them a tournament total of 597. New York University captured the team title at 584 and Amherst College was the runner-up just one shot back.
Hamilton competes in Farmingdale State College's Bethpage Black Invitational at Bethpage State Park Golf Course on Thursday, April 16.
