Aroca Gonzalez '26 posts a 77 on first day of NCAA men's golf championship

VICTOR, N.Y. – Hamilton College's Ramon Aroca Gonzalez '26 carded a five-over par 77 on the first day of the 2025 NCAA Division III Men's Golf Championship at Cobblestone Creek Country Club on Tuesday afternoon, May 20.
 
Aroca Gonzalez is in a tie for 100th place out of 225 golfers. He is one of 10 competing as an individual in the championship.
 
Aroca Gonzalez begins his second round on the first tee at Midvale Country Club in Penfield, N.Y., at 7:55 a.m. on Wednesday, May 21. After 36 holes, the field will be cut to the top 18 teams and top six individuals not on one of those teams, and they will play a total of 36 more holes on May 22 and 23.
 
Aroca Gonzalez started his first round on the 10th hole and promptly recorded his first birdie on the 368-yard 11th. After three straight bogeys, he birdied the 541-yard 18th hole, and finished his first nine holes at 39.
 
Aroca Gonzalez's lone birdie on his second nine was a four he made on the 460-yard sixth hole. He bogeyed the ninth hole, which was his 18th of the day, and ended up with a 38 on his back nine.
