BLOOMFIELD, Conn. – Hamilton College's
Ramon Aroca Gonzalez '26 and
Brian Healy '25 led the Continentals to a tie for third place out of 16 teams in the Trinity College / University of Hartford Spring Invitational, which was held at Tumble Brook Country Club on April 5 and 6.
Hamilton tied Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute with a tournament score of 604. The Continentals recorded a four-man team score of 304 on Saturday and was slightly better on Sunday with a 300. Amherst College collected the team title with a 592 and Trinity was runner-up at 600.
Gonzalez earned individual medalist honors for the fourth time in seven tournaments this season. His 36-hole total of 142 was one shot better than Amherst's Paari Kaviyarasu. Gonzalez birdied four holes on the back nine as he carded an even-par 72 in the first round. On Sunday he registered 15 pars and had an eagle on the par-five third hole en route to a 2-under 70. Gonzalez leads the team with a stoke average of 71.46 for 13 rounds as all of his scores have been in the 60s and 70s.
Healy tied for seventh place out of 85 golfers as he posted season-best totals for 18 (72) and 36 holes (148). Healy birdied five holes on Saturday when he shot even par. He has an 18-hole stroke average of 76.82 as his last nine rounds have been in the 70s.
Jaikrit Bhattacharya '26 tied for 32
nd place after rounds of 79 and 77. Bhattacharya was even on the back nine in the second round.
Ryan Connors '25 contributed a 77 with three birdies on Sunday.
Hamilton plays in Skidmore College's Dr. Tim Brown Invitational at Ballston Spa Country Club in Ballston Spa, N.Y., on Saturday, April 12 and Sunday, April 13.
