WORCESTER, Mass. – Hamilton College finished in second place in the varsity eight race in a regatta that was hosted by Clark University and included the Connecticut College Camels on Lake Quinsigamond on Saturday, April 5.
Racing conditions on the fully buoyed course included a 10-to-12 mph headwind that continued to build throughout the morning.
Nationally ranked No. 13 Hamilton's time was 7:50.4 on the 2,000-meter course. Clark, which was receiving votes in the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association Division III Top 15 poll, was the race winner in 7:41.4 and Conn. College finished third with a time of 8:07.2.
The Continentals took the top spot in the second varsity eight with a winning time of 7:54.2. Clark (8:20.4) and the Camels (8:28.5) finished comfortably behind Hamilton.
The Continentals went head-to-head with Conn. College in a third varsity eight race. Hamilton's time of 8:16.1 was more than 26 seconds faster than the Camels' performance.
Hamilton hosts Rochester Institute of Technology on the Erie Canal in Rome, N.Y., on Saturday, April 12.
