Women’s lacrosse falls at Trinity, Orlando ’25 scores four goals

Senior midfielder registered five points for the Continentals in the 14-7 setback

HARTFORD, Conn. – Trinity College erupted for six goals in the third quarter and the Bantams went on to a 14-7 NESCAC win against the Hamilton College Continentals at Trinity's Sheppard Field on Saturday afternoon, April 5. 
 

Season Update

  • Hamilton (3-6, 1-6 NESCAC) has played ranked opponents in three of its last four contests. 
  • The Bantams (7-3, 4-2) won their fourth straight game. 

How It Happened

  • The Bantams jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first five minutes.
  • The Continentals trimmed their deficit in half with 6:13 left in the opening quarter when Sarah Stonestreet '25 found the back of the net on an assist from Alex Orlando '25.
  • Trinity struck first in the second quarter and pushed its lead to 3-1 with 10:44 remaining.
  • The Continentals answered with a woman-up goal by Sophia Wright '28 from Aine Cleary '25 at the 8:44 mark.
  • Orlando evened the score with a free-position goal at 5:40, but the Bantams responded with three unanswered goals and took a 6-3 lead into halftime.
  • Trinity outscored the Continentals 6-2 in the third quarter and extended their advantage to 12-5 heading into the final period.
  • After another Bantam goal with 12:55 left in the fourth quarter, Orlando netted her third goal just 51 seconds later, following a draw control win by Avery Trach '27. Orlando added another free-position goal exactly two minutes after that, but Hamilton didn't score again during the last 10 minutes.

Notes

  • Orlando tied a career high with five points on four goals and one assist. She also contributed three ground balls and matched a career best with four draw controls.
  • Stonestreet netted her fifth goal of the season and tallied her 31st career assist.
  • Sarah Creamer '26 recorded two points for the fourth time this season on one goal and one assist. 
  • Wright has scored in each of the last three games she participated in and has four goals this season.
  • Cleary dished out her fifth assist of the season, collected four ground balls and caused two turnovers.
  • Maddigan Leifer '26 scooped up four ground balls and won three draw controls.
  • Grace Martucci '28 finished with three ground balls and three caused turnovers.
  • Carlisle West '25 had three of Hamilton's 15 caused turnovers.
  • Clara Paolucci '28 made eight saves for the Continentals.
  • Sarah Marvin led the Bantams with four goals.
  • Kaeley Zito finished with three goals and two assists.
  • Brooke Kurtz posted a game-high six points on two goals and a team-best four assists.
  • Alex Lesko netted two goals and added one assist.
  • Ivy Armentrout contributed two goals, and Kelsey Restivo scored one goal and added two assists.
  • June Trodden led Trinity with five draw controls, while Alexa Macaulay won four and Sydney Aitkenhead grabbed three.
  • Olivia Aguirre made four saves in the first half for the Bantams before Ali Macdougall took over in the second half and registered two saves.
