PITTSFIELD, Mass. – Hamilton College raced against Tufts University and host Williams College in a regatta on Onota Lake on Saturday morning, April 26.
Racing conditions for the 2,000-meter course included rain throughout the morning and a minimal cross tailwind that built slightly for the third varsity eight race.
Nationally ranked No. 15 Hamilton ended up in third place in the varsity eight with a time of 7:12.21, while No. 5 Williams (6:51.35) and No. 2 Tufts (6:51.59) required a photo finish to determine the race winner.
Tufts finished first by a more comfortable margin in the second and third varsity eight races. The Jumbos posted a winning time of 6:56.14 in the second varsity eight, followed by Williams (7:07.49) and the Continentals (7:32.80).
The third varsity eight race followed the same order with Tufts (7:05.11) taking the top spot. The Ephs (7:11.60) were the runners-up and Hamilton landed in third (7:51.29).
The Continentals return to the water for the National Invitational Rowing Championships and NESCAC Championships on Lake Quinsigamond in Worcester, Mass., on Sunday, May 11.
