CLINTON, N.Y. – Hamilton College scored the first 10 goals and the Continentals cruised to a 15-4 non-conference win against the University of Rochester Yellowjackets at Hamilton's chilly and wet Withiam Field on Tuesday evening, April 15.
Season Update
- The Continentals (4-8 overall) ended their losing skid at four games.
- Rochester (4-10) dropped its fifth straight.
How It Happened
- Hamilton received goals from three different players and led 3-0 at the end of one quarter.
- Maddigan Leifer '26 scored three of the next four goals for the Continentals. Leifer made it 7-0 with 4:48 left in the second quarter when she took a pass moving from right to left at the edge of the eight-meter, drove down the middle and scored from close range. Hamilton owned an 8-0 advantage at the half.
- Leyna Schlaefer '28 notched two goals for the Continentals early in the third quarter. Schlaefer had the ball for 15 seconds while she drove in from the right wing, faked low and put a shot high into the back of the net for a 10-goal cushion with 11:33 remaining in the third.
- Sara Mendelson finally broke the ice for the Yellowjackets with 9:21 to go in the quarter.
- Leifer restored the running clock with about seven minutes left in the third. She drove towards the crease from the right side and flipped a shot past the goalie.
- Jennifer Bekos scored for Rochester on a free-position shot 37 seconds into the fourth quarter.
- Caroline Schillaci '28 recorded Hamilton's 12th goal with about 13 minutes remaining. Schillaci took a pass after a teammate intercepted a pass by the Yellowjackets and ran from the Rochester end into the Continentals' offensive zone. She came down the right side, muscled her way past a defender, cut to the inside and scored from close range.
- Hamilton kept the running clock going for the rest of the night. The Continentals eventually took their largest lead of 12 at 14-2 on a goal by Carlisle West '25 with 8:40 to go.

- Leifer tied a career high with four goals and won six draw controls. She leads Hamilton with 26 points.
- Schlaefer scored a season-best three goals and added an assist and two caused turnovers.
- Sarah Creamer '26 tied a career high with three assists.
- Eight Continentals scored one goal including the defender West, who scored her first in 43 career games.
- Marin Ciardiello '26 posted her first goal this season, Schillaci her second and Sophia Wright '28 her fifth.
- Aine Cleary '25 scored her 16th this season and the 94th of her career in her last home game.
- Alex Orlando '25 tied Leifer for the team lead with her 19th goal.
- Julia Lee '27 and Eugenia Kaltsas '26 scored their 17th and fifth goals this season, respectively, on free-position shots.
- Sarah Stonestreet '25 scooped up four ground balls and has 10 in the last two games.
- Claire Neumann '28 chipped in three ground balls and two caused turnovers.
- Clara Paolucci '28 made four saves in three quarters and Eliza Schwarz '27 stopped one shot in the fourth.
- Anne Traczyk paced the Yellowjackets with two goals, Maddie Bunting won three draws and Isla Ablin turned away 16 shots.
- Hamilton held a 23-1 shot advantage in the first half.
- The Continentals' ride helped forced 12 turnovers in the first quarter when Rochester was successful on just 3-of-10 clear attempts.
- Hamilton's 15 goals were a season high.
- The Continentals are 29-5 all-time and have won the last 12 meetings with the Yellowjackets.
