ROME, N.Y. – Hamilton College's
Jake Hendelman '28 helped lead the Continentals to the Hamilton Fall Invitational team title at Rome Country Club where the event was held on Oct. 4 and 5.
Hendelman enjoyed his best weekend with the Continentals as his 36-hole score of 144 earned him individual medalist honors and was a collegiate-best performance. He wrapped up the tournament with a 3-under-par 69 on Sunday for another career best.
Ramon Aroca Gonzalez '26 finished one stroke behind Hendelman in second place out of 42 golfers at 145. Aroca Gonzalez's 1-under 71 on Sunday was one of three under-par rounds by Hamilton players in the final round.
Wyatt Lupo '29 led the Continentals' 'C' team in third place with a 36-hole total of 147 that included a 2-under 70 in the final round.
Jaikrit Bhattacharya '26 posted rounds of 74 and 76 as he tied for fifth place at 150.
Gunnar Moore '29 was Hamilton's top player on its 'B' team as rounds of 77 and 74 left him in seventh place by himself at 151.
Jonathan Moon '29 carded a 74 on Sunday and tied for 16
th at 156 playing with Moore on the 'B' team.
Aidan Xu '29, who played in his first collegiate event, tied for 18
th at 157 with rounds of 78 and 79 for the 'C' team. Other notable rounds included:
Henry Fey '27 with a 76 on Saturday;
Thomas Beaudoin '27 with a career-best 76 on Sunday;
Eric Soderberg '26 with a 78 on Saturday.
The Continentals' 'A' team won the eight-team tournament by 14 strokes at 593 with four-person team totals of 301 on Saturday and an impressive 292 on Sunday. Tufts University was the runner-up at 607 and St. Lawrence University finished third at 618.
Hamilton plays in the Golfweek Division III October Classic at Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort in Miramar Beach, Fla., from Oct. 12 to Oct. 14.
