Season Update

Hamilton was playing its season opener while Oswego, which is a member of the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) picked up its second win of the season.

How It Happened

  • Smith opened the scoring for the Lakers in the 16th minute with a penalty kick.
  • The Continentals countered less than eight minutes later on a goal by Luke Ehrenfreund '25. Jude Rouhana '25 sent a beautiful corner kick into the box that was headed out by a defender only to meet Ehrenfreund at the top of the 18-yard box. The four-year veteran sent a left-footed rocket into the lower right-hand corner for the equalizer with 22:03 on the clock.
  • The Lakers regained their lead 11:09 into the second half on a breakaway goal by Tajay Ellis after an initial save by Finn Wheeler '27 from point-blank range.
  • Oswego added to its lead with another penalty goal by Smith with 13:48 remaining.
  • After two shot attempts, Hamilton cut its deficit on a goal by Luke Peplowski '25 with 9:13 to go. Rouhana took another corner kick that was deflected to Lucas O'Dowd '25 at the far side of the six-yard box. O'Dowd popped a high shot that was saved by the fingertips of Oswego's Kyle Rose, but Peplowski bodied the rebound and headed it off the left post.
  • The Continentals carried a 10-2 advantage in corner kicks.
  • Hamilton outshot the Lakers 17-6 with seven shots on goal.
