Middlebury, Vt. – Three Middlebury College players scored and the Panthers posted a 3-1 NESCAC win over the Hamilton College Continentals at Middlebury's South Street Field on Saturday, Sept. 7.
Season Update
- Hamilton (0-2-0, 0-1 NESCAC) was playing its conference opener.
- Middlebury is ranked fifth in the United Soccer Coaches Division III Top 25 preseason poll. The Panthers were playing their NESCAC opener and improved to 3-0-0 overall.
How It Happened
- The Panthers opened the scoring in the 41st minute. Middlebury took a free kick near midfield after a Hamilton foul. Eduardo Casanova launched the kick and found Luke Madden in the center who sent a header into the net.
- Jude Rouhana '25 netted the equalizer at 53:24 after the Continentals made a run down the field. Luke Peplowski '25 sent a slick centering pass over to Luke Ehrenfreund '25 who sent a dime piece down to a fast Jude Rouhana '25. Rouhana beat his defender and popped a one-touch shot off the bottom of the crossbar and over the diving Middlebury goalkeeper.
- Middlebury took the lead for good just 1:15 later on a goal by Gavin Randolph, assisted by Kyle Nilsson and Will Sawin.
- The Panthers added their final goal on a penalty kick by Colin Dugan with a little over 20 minutes to go.
- Middlebury owned a 13-8 shot advantage with 10 on goal.
- Hamilton held a 6-2 advantage on corner kicks.
Notes
- Rouhana scored the second goal of his career.
- Ehrenfreund and Peplowski have tallied three points apiece in Hamilton's first two matches with a goal and an assist. Ehrenfreund handed out his 10th career helper, while Peplowski tallied his 15th.
- Peter Montesano Scheibe '27 made seven saves in his first appearance in goal for Hamilton.
- Madden and Randolph tallied their second goals of the season for the Panthers.
- Dugan netted his first goal of the season.
- Joey Waterman made two stops in net for Middlebury.
