WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. – Hamilton College's
Lucas O'Dowd '25 and
Luke Peplowski '25 scored goals and
Finn Wheeler '27 posted a shutout in the Continentals' 2-0 NESCAC win against the Williams College Ephs at Williams' Farley-Lamb Field on Tuesday night, Sept. 10.
Season Update
- Hamilton (1-2-0, 1-1 NESCAC) picked up its first win this season.
- The Ephs (1-2-0, 0-2) has been shut out in both of its conference matches.
How It Happened
- The Continentals took a 1-0 lead in the 20th minute. O'Dowd and Charles Hawthorn '25 executed a give-and-go and Hawthorn drove into the 18-yard box. He was stopped by a couple defenders deep on the right side of the box and passed back to O'Dowd. His right-footed shot from 15 yards out skipped along the turf and tucked inside the left post.
- Williams doubled up Hamilton in shots in the first half, 6-3, but the Continentals took their 1-0 edge into the break.
- Peplowski provided some insurance in the 71st minute. Luke Ehrenfreund '25 took a corner kick from the left side and the ball sailed over nearly everyone to Peplowski near the right post. Peplowski headed the ball back into the center of the net from a couple yards out and gave Hamilton a two-goal advantage.
Notes
- O'Dowd scored the second goal of his career with the Continentals.
- Peplowski leads the team with two goals and five points. He's third on the team's all-time list with 15 career assists and has 14 goals and 43 points.
- Hawthorn recorded his fifth career assist.
- Ehrenfreund picked up an assist for the second straight match and leads Hamilton with two. He has 11 in his career with the Continentals.
- Wheeler made four saves and collected the shutout in just his second collegiate start.
- Ben Diffley stopped four shots for the Ephs.
- Williams held an 11-8 shot advantage, but the Continentals took five corner kicks to the Ephs' two.
- Hamilton recorded its first win at Williams since 2013.
