Perry Nizzi

Perry Nizzi joined the Hamilton College men's soccer staff as the head coach in December 1997. His teams have reached double figures in wins eight times and his overall record at Hamilton stood at 197-135-39 (.584 win pct.) going into 2023. In 2022 the Continentals were unbeaten in their first 11 matches and ranked as high as No. 6 in one Division III poll. Hamilton ended up playing in the NESCAC championship quarterfinals, and Nizzi coached three all-conference selections and a pair of all-region team picks. A dozen men's soccer players were on the 2022 NESCAC Fall All-Academic Team.

  • Won the Liberty League regular season crown twice (2000, 2006)
  • Tied the team record with 12 victories in 2001
  • Advanced to the 2000 NCAA championship quarterfinals
  • Ranked 16th in the final 2000 Division III coaches poll
  • Earned the United Soccer Coaches Men's College Team Academic Award for the sixth time in seven years in 2020-21


Herkimer College Head Coach (1981-97)

  • Compiled a record of 291-56-11
  • Three straight National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division III championships (1994-96)
  • Established a national collegiate record (at the time) for the longest winning streak in any sport with 97 consecutive victories
  • Inducted into the NJCAA Soccer Hall of Fame in 2006 and the Herkimer College Athletic Hall of Fame in 2017


Collegiate Playing Career

  • All-American at Mohawk Valley Community College in Utica
  • All-state at SUNY Cortland
  • One of eight inducted into Cortland's C-Club Hall of Fame in 2009


Other Information

  • Received the 1999 National Intercollegiate Soccer Officials Association's award for outstanding contributions in the field of intercollegiate soccer
  • Inducted into the Rome Sports Hall of Fame in 1997 and the Greater Utica Sports Hall of Fame in 2000
  • Bachelor's degree (1977) and master's degree (1980) from Cortland
Rome native graduated from Rome Free Academy where he earned high school all-America honors
