Patty Kloidt has announced her retirement as Hamilton College Head Women's Lacrosse Coach after guiding the Continentals for 22 seasons, but will serve the athletics department in other capacities through June 2026.
Kloidt will continue to be involved with teaching in Hamilton's Physical Education program, event management, and other department and community initiatives. The search for a new head women's lacrosse coach will begin immediately.
"I want to thank former Director of Athletics Dave Thompson, whose vision and encouragement brought me to College Hill," Kloidt said. "His mentorship, alongside the guidance of current Director of Athletics Jon Hind, profoundly shaped my coaching career. Having spent my entire adult life at Hamilton, I have grown immensely from working with exceptional student-athletes and dedicated assistant coaches. The athletic department is a wonderful place to work, driven by my colleagues and our collective love for every team and the student-athlete experience. I am grateful for the opportunity to continue the joy I have in teaching yoga and mindfulness, as well as engage in other duties to support our programming."
In 2008 Kloidt coached the Continentals to the only NCAA Division III team championship in the College's history as they defeated Franklin & Marshall College in the final and finished 21-1. She ended up with a record of 220-127 at Hamilton and is one of the top 25 all-time winningest women's lacrosse coaches in Division III. Kloidt's Le Moyne College teams won 26 games in four seasons and her 246 total victories makes her one of the top 50 all-time winningest coaches across all three NCAA divisions.
"I deeply appreciate the coaching friendships I've formed and feel immense gratitude for the camaraderie within the NESCAC," Kloidt said. "The extraordinary culture of our women's lacrosse coaching community is something truly special and worth celebrating. I will cherish the laughter and mentorship I experienced from so many wonderful coaches in our game."
Kloidt was selected the 2008 Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association Division III Coach of the Year after the national title. She led the Continentals to 17 postseason appearances including seven trips to the NCAA championship. Kloidt coached 17 athletes to a total of 26 all-America honors and 14 of her players made the all-New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) team. She mentored the 2024 NESCAC Defensive Player of the Year.
"I am incredibly excited for our current team, which boasts a robust and talented roster of exceptional student-athletes," Kloidt said. "The future looks promising, and I am eager to see what lies ahead for them. I am thrilled for my successor and will be their biggest fan, cheering on the next coaching staff with enthusiasm. Watching this team continue to thrive and reach new heights will be a tremendous source of joy and pride for me."
