Women's lacrosse overwhelms Ithaca with 21 goals in regular season finale

MacLean '29 posted the Continentals' first five-goal game of 2026

CLINTON, N.Y. – Hamilton College's Grace MacLean '29 scored a season-high five goals and helped lead the Continentals to a 21-9 non-conference victory over the Ithaca College Bombers at Hamilton's Steuben Field on Tuesday evening, April 21.

Season Update

  • The Continentals (5-10 overall) wrapped up their season with their first win on home turf this spring.
  • Ithaca (10-5) was coming off a 15-11 win against then-nationally ranked St. John Fisher University on April 17.

How It Happened

  • The score was tied at 6-6 midway through the second quarter when Hamilton ran off four goals in a span of less than two minutes and led the rest of the way.
  • The Continentals limited the Bombers to three goals over the last 38 minutes including just two after halftime.
  • Julia Lee '27 put Hamilton in front for good on a Lila Snow '29 assist with 6:54 left in the second. Snow drew in two defenders and that left a wide-open Lee, who received the pass, faked the shot, and finished in the bottom-right corner.
  • Sophia Wright '28 scored her third of the game just 25 seconds later. Natalie Mascitti '29 cut through the middle and drew crashing Ithaca defenders before dishing it to Wright, who scored on a hard shot by the left post.
  • Mascitti scored one of her own 40 seconds later. She ran flat from distance in line with the goal line and scored on a one-hand shot at the left post.
  • Lily Goldsmith '28 brought Hamilton's lead to 10-6 with 4:59 remaining in the quarter. Goldsmith danced past her defender and beat the goalie on a cross-body shot from her left hand to the right side of the net.
  • Wright opened the scoring 1:38 into the first quarter.
  • Ithaca College responded less than two minutes later on Kelly Augeri's first of five goals.
  • Wright tucked her 20th of the season a little under two minutes later on a free-position shot as she beat the goalie on an ankle-level shot at the left post.
  • The Bombers tied the score at two 38 seconds later.
  • Mascitti recorded the next goal on a player-up advantage with 6:57 to go in the first when she ran her free-position in and beat the goalie on a bounce shot into the top-left corner.
  • Ithaca's Augeri tied it at three and closed out the quarter with 5:17 left.
  • Lauren Garringer '29 gave Hamilton a 4-3 lead 44 seconds into the second quarter. Lee scooped up a loose ground ball in traffic on the right side of the arc, and passed to a wide-open Garringer in front of the net. Garringer capitalized on the opportunity, finishing on a head-on shot past the goalie's helmet.
  • The Bombers recorded the next two goals and took their only lead at 5-4 with 12:03 remaining in the quarter.
  • MacLean recorded her first goal with 10:09 to go in the second. She cradled the ball some distance and beat the Bombers on a shot through the middle in motion.
  • Snow regained the one-goal lead for the Continentals 46 seconds later. She crashed between three defenders and ripped one from distance on an underhand shot to the top-right corner.
  • Augeri's third evened the score at six.
  • Lily Cody's 40th goal of the season pulled Ithaca within 10-7 with 4:25 left.
  • Maddigan Leifer '26 scored her 28th of the season on an individual effort. Leifer spun off her defender, who fell to the ground as a result, and beat the goalie to the left side on an overhand finish.
  • Garringer's second goal closed out the first half with 11.2 seconds remaining. Mascitti from the top of the arc hit a sneaky wide-open Garringer, who placed the ball perfectly bar down into the top-left corner.
  • MacLean opened the second half scoring on a player-up advantage. Leifer hit MacLean in the middle and she tucked the ball in close and finished low 27 seconds into the third quarter.
  • The Bombers scored the next two 23 seconds apart and made it 13-9 with 11:13 to go in the third. They didn't score again.
  • Goldsmith recorded her fifth goal of the season 24 seconds later. She rounded the crease looking for a pass, but kept it herself and put it low in the right corner.
  • MacLean brought Hamilton's lead back to six at 15-9 and closed out the quarter. She set the play from the out-of-bounds line and ran vertically the whole way to the net, where she rolled the right post of the crease and picked a hole in the net by the left post and crossbar with 5:57 left.
  • Lee's third point came from a Kristin Vosswinkel '27 assist. Vosswinkel possessed, switching hands as needed, and hit Lee in the slot. Lee finished on a beautiful behind-the-head shot into the top-right corner 2:33 into the fourth quarter.
  • MacLean delivered yet again and made it 17-9 about 90 seconds later as she sliced through and took an overhand shot to the right side.
  • Mascitti's third goal came with 9:43 remaining when she ran with speed and took a leaping shot for her 10th this season.
  • Sydney Klepper '26 scored her eighth career goal and started the running clock with just under seven minutes to go. Wright found Klepper rounding the crease, and her quick release on the move was perfectly placed top shelf.
  • Lee's 66th career goal came from Wright's 14th assist of the season. Wright hit Lee moving through the middle as she quickly switched hands and finished high.
  • MacLean closed out the scoring in the final minute. Klepper passed the ball from behind the net to MacLean, who tucked it over the goalie.
