PITTSFIELD, Mass. – Hamilton College finished third in the varsity eight and the second varsity eight in a regatta with Tufts University and Williams College that was held on Onota Lake on Saturday, April 27.
The Continentals are seventh in the Pocock Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association Women's Division III Top 15 Rankings. Tufts is at the top of the rankings while Williams is ranked third.
Hamilton recorded a time of 7:20.78 in the varsity eight on the 2,000-meter course. Racing conditions included a slight cross-tailwind on an otherwise beautiful day for racing. Tufts was the winner in 6:53.59 and Williams was the runner-up in 7:04.53.
The Continentals finished the second varsity eight race in 7:16.43. This time Williams edged Tufts by 1.08 seconds with a time of 7:00.63.
Williams (8:22.61) went head-to-head with Hamilton (8:31.32) in the varsity fours. The Continentals took second place out of four entries in the third varsity eight with a time of 7:07.72. Tufts captured first place in 7:02.98.
Hamilton is back in the water on Sunday, May 12 for the National Invitational Rowing Championships, which doubles as the NESCAC Championships, at Lake Quinsigamond in Worcester, Mass.
