Continentals held on for a 2-1 non-conference victory against their local rivals

CLINTON, N.Y. – Hamilton College's Luke Peplowski '25 and Cole Wassiliew '26 scored and the Continentals posted a 2-1 non-conference win against the Utica University Pioneers under the lights at Hamilton's Withiam Field on Tuesday, Oct. 22.

Season Update

  • Hamilton (6-5-3 overall) has lost once in its last eight matches.

How It Happened

  • Peplowski put the Continentals on the board in the 25th minute with a penalty kick following a foul in the box drawn by Charles Hawthorn '25.
  • Hamilton doubled its lead on a goal by Wassiliew that was assisted by Aedan Burke '26 with 6:20 left in the first half. The Continentals regained possession at midfield and Wassiliew chipped it up the sideline to Burke. Burke danced around a defender and slipped a beautiful leading pass to Wassilew, who fired a left-footed shot into the lower-right corner.
  • Utica's Anderson Velazquez sliced the Pioneers' deficit in half on a goal in the 65th minute.
  • Hamilton created several scoring opportunities after the break, but Utica's Zachary Accetta was effective in goal, making seven of his 11 saves in the second half.
  • The Continentals tallied a season-best 27 shots with 13 on target.
  • Hamilton held a 4-3 edge on corner kicks.
